Yandex Programming School opening ceremony

img_5509Yandex, a Russian multinational technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products and Armenian Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) will open their joint school of programming at Vanadzor Technology Center in Armenia’s third largest town on January 20, EIF said today.

The Yandex School will teach high graders the basic programming skills through Python language. The training at Yandex School is free. The course was developed by Yandex School of Data Analysis and is designed for students of 9-11 grades, interested in mathematics and information technology.

The duration of the course is 12 months. Classes will be held twice a week at Vanadzor Technology Center. After each lesson, practical exercises will be performed. Each group will have no more than 14 students. The teachers are local professionals who were trained at Yandex.

The first six months will be devoted to the fundamentals of Python. The second half-year the students will be dealing with standard and external libraries, and will be taught the object-oriented programming.

To be admitted the applicants will need to pass a test and an interview. The results of the first tests and interviews were announced on December 19. Classes will begin on January 21.EIF said today that out of 140 applicants 28 students were chosen.
